Marpac-McCanna Split-body, Floating Ball Digester Blow Valves One of the most severe services for valves in the pulp & paper industry is in digester blow valve applications. Here valves are subjected to both high pressure (100-180 psi) and temperatures (340-400°F), as well as corrosive/erosive forces and line shock. The cumulative effect of these forces works together in time to deteriorate the sealing capabilities of a valve, causing its failure. Because of this, digester blow service requires valves that have been designed to take the punishment associated with this application. Marpac-McCanna split body, floating ball digester blow valves have standard solid stellite seats. These seats are recessed in machined body cavities to minimize the erosive effects of abrasive slurries and to control seat movement. A unique compression ring extends the life of this valve by preventing metal to metal seizing of the seal and ball. This allows variable seat stress and permits an optimum setting between seat leakage and operating torque. The solid high-sphericity 316 Stainless Steel Ball with hard chrome plating allows a smoother, less turbulent flow, and a rugged 17-4 PH stem provides extra strength and durability, while resisting corrosive attacks. Marpac-McCanna has two offerings for digester blow service: a Full Port, ANSI Class 300 short pattern valve and a Regular Port ANSI Class 300 with ANSI Class 150 Face-To-Face Dimensions.
