Pressure Relief Valves

Overview

Carter Chambers’ asset management program is customized for each partnership and is designed to maximize the use of our customer’s assets. Working closely with our customers, we routinely identify areas for cost containment by continually monitoring the condition (deterioration) of pressure relief valves to allow for longer "run" intervals and fewer repairs.

Carter Chambers utilizes state-of-the-art repair techniques developed in conjunction with major valves manufacturers to provide the highest quality of repairs that ensure heightened reliability and longer repair intervals. Leading edge software allows detailed data management and historical records maintenance as required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119.

History

Carter Chambers has been involved with a variety of valve pooling and/or asset management programs since 1980. The most effective have been those that involved inventorying surplus valves and proactively maintaining the entire plant pressure relief valve population. Companies such as Monsanto, Rubicon Chemical, Eastman Chemical, and many others have all received significant benefits from the Carter Chambers asset management initiative.

While results vary, the trend is for a gradual increase in repair expenditures for the first two years and then for a steady reduction thereafter. While interpretation is only subjective, it is apparent that reduced expenditures and increasing cost savings can be expected as each asset management program matures. Cost savings are significant from both direct (Carter Chambers) repair expenditures and from indirect (customer labor, equipment, production downtime) sources.

Conclusion

The primary benefits of utilizing the Carter Chambers asset management program are:

  • Increased equipment reliability through quality repair and testing by completely certified, factory trained technicians utilizing state-of-the-art equipment
